In 1958, China and the Soviet Union cooperated to introduce the Dadu River into the Mabian River through a tunnel, where the two rivers converge to build the largest hydropower station in southwest China, hence the name "Dama". After the Sino Soviet relations broke down, although no large-scale hydropower station was built, and the name of the power station was "Tangu Kiln", Dama Power Station and its reputation were more famous. The water storage of the power station creates a flat lake. The 15km section of the reservoir area of the power station was later named "Cyathea spinulosa Lake", which became another tourist center in Jiayang Cyathea spinulosa Lake Scenic Area.
